Eden Workplace has found that after 1 year of quarantine, 85% of office workers look forward to returning to their office. The survey, conducted by Wakefield Research, surveyed 1,000 US national office workers aged 18+, working full-time or part-time, between February 9-17, 2021.

As the availability of COVID-19 vaccines has sparked a lively debate about returning employees to the office, the survey shows that 52% of office workers report that communication with colleagues is the main reason for their desire to return to the office.

The results also point to different perspectives based on age, ethnicity, and educational level. While 89% of millennials want to return to the office, only 80% of baby boomers feel the same way. In addition, while 90% of non-white office workers said they were looking forward to returning to the office, the results for white office workers were slightly lower at 84%. In terms of education, those with a college degree are more likely to want to return 90%.

The survey results also contain a number of safety-related ideas, including that more than 3 in 5 (61%) of respondents want their employers to strictly adhere to COVID-related work rules. In fact, a quarter even believes that employees who violate COVID safety rules should face the serious consequences of demotion or even firing.

Besides, 66% of office workers will not feel comfortable meeting face-to-face unless everyone is at least six feet apart.

Another 23% believe that their colleagues will take the opportunity to showcase more formal clothes (9%) or stylish and chic clothes (15%). On the other hand, 24% expect their colleagues to dress as casually as they do when working from home.

Also, the vast majority of workers expect free hand sanitizer (71%), company-provided masks (61%), and their workplace to be isolated from society (59%).

Meanwhile, those who have never worked from home are far more likely to want their employer to comply with COVID regulations (46%), compared to those who worked from home during quarantine (38%) and those who already returned to the office (33%).

We’ve reported that Revolut shifted to a permanent remote working model.
